A Modest Beginning.

This purpose of this site is to engage current events involving science, medicine, and health care.

The prospective reform of the American health care “system” is of tremendous interest to me. While much has been made of the problems with health care in America (mainly costs rapidly outpacing inflation and concerns over access and outcomes), the widely-publicized avenues of reform favor increased government control over insurance and care. This is deeply worrisome.

While I cannot articulate a comprehensive plan for health care reform (yet), I am absolutely certain of one thing: expanding the state’s role in the health care system will greatly diminish the quality of care received and will only further inflate costs. A major goal here is to make the case for reform rooted in greater choice, competition, and free markets – the options that are almost entirely absent from the front pages of the news media and out of election debates.

Enough introduction. Welcome.
